Job/Person Summary:

We have an exciting and outstanding opportunity for a dynamic leader to join our fantastic school. Cupernham Infant School is looking to appoint a School Business Manager with an in depth understanding and knowledge of financial management. We are looking for someone who will ensure our school continues to make the best use of resources and thus influencing the provision we are able to provide our children.

The successful candidate will be someone who:

  • is a dynamic team player.
  • has proven financial management experience.
  • can lead and motivate teams and is experienced in complex project planning and delivery.

About the role:

  • To play a central role in the Senior Leadership Team.
  • To give strategic vision and leadership to all aspects of Finance, Administration, Physical and Human Resources, Health and Safety and premises.
  • To lead, operate, maintain and develop the financial procedures and systems of the school, in co-operation with the Leadership Team and Governors, ensuring that legal and safety requirements with regard to people, property and the functioning of the school are maintained.
  • To be responsible for the efficient and effective use of the school site and its buildings, their maintenance and development.
  • To be responsible for the efficient use, maintenance and development of school resources.
  • To line manage key support staff.
  • To ensure that the school is fully prepared to meet OFSTED financial and physical safeguarding criteria.
  • To be a member of the School’s Finance Committee.
  • To attend all main governing body meetings and assist the Chair for sub-committee for Finance and Resources.
  • To provide support as relevant to the Head teacher and SLT.

What we need you to be: 

  • A proven track record of excellence in school business leadership and/or management of areas including finance and HR.
  • A candidate who sees the vision and values of the school as a good fit for their professional work.
  • Have experience of leading and managing teams successfully.
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Applicants who want to work as part of a collaborative team, building an exceptional team.

  • Be highly organised with the ability to balance competing demands, prioritise appropriately, and successfully manage expectations.
