Safeguarding

Keeping Children Safe:

At Cupernham Infant School, we recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils. We provide a safe and welcoming environment where all children are respected and valued. Safeguarding is at the heart of all we do.

We expect all staff, parents/carers and volunteers to share in this commitment. Safeguarding determines the actions that we take to keep children safe and protect them from harm in all aspects of their life.

Our DSL and DDSL’s can be contacted through our school office on 01794 514494.

Safeguarding Curriculum:

The safeguarding curriculum at Cupernham Infant School takes a preventative education approach to ensuring our children have the skills necessary to manage any potential risks that they or others may face.

The curriculum intent is to ensure children know how to keep themselves and others safe from these risks and what to do if they have any safeguarding concerns.

The curriculum is implemented throughout the school and across every year group. We teach children how to keep themselves safe, for example:

  • we follow the Jigsaw PSHE programme
  • we regularly invite visitors into school; such as the the Fire Service
  • we have focus days; anti-bullying day, internet safety day
  • we follow the NSPCC safe guarding programmes – “Speak Out, Stay Safe” and “Talk PANTS”

The impact of our safeguarding curriculum can be evidenced through the pupil conferencing activities which are undertaken by our governors on a regular basis.
